Nitrogen is produced using Carbon Molecular Sieve (CMS) in an adsorption (PSA) process, and some of the filtered compression air is diverted through a column filled with a molecular sieve drying material. As the air is passed through the drying material, the dried air is stored inside the internal air reservoir. When the compressor stops, the exhaust valve opens and the impurities in the drying column are vented to atmosphere. Additional purification is achieved by a back flush of dry air, which is stored inside the air reservoir. Key
