TOC Quality Air from Existing In-House Air Supply

Produce up to 1500 cc/min ATP of carrier or combustion gas from your own in-house air supply with the PEAK Scientific Instruments TOC Gas Generator. The generator removes total hydrocarbons as well as carbon dioxide and moisture and eliminates the need for cylinders from the laboratory and provides a quite and continuous supply of air with THC' s <0.1 ppm and CO2 <1ppm.

The generator utilises molecular sieve technology to produce ultra high purity carrier/combustion gas for TOC analysers. Gas purification is achieved using Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) with an ' activated alumina' molecular sieve. Hydrocarbons, carbon dioxide and water vapour are trapped and vented during the production cycle and purified gas is available on demand. The molecular sieve regenerates during production and does not require replacement.

Pressure Swing Adsorption; this is where gases and moisture can be selectively adsorbed from compressed air into a porous crystalline sieve material. The adsorption process is aided by the electrostatic interaction between the adsorbate sieve material and the gases to be adsorbed. The sieve material used in the TOC Gas Generator is a specially activated alumina compound.

The inlet air to the TOC Gas Generator passes through a pre-filtration process where it undergoes particulate removal (<0.01 micron), hydrocarbon and bulk moisture removal (by activated charcoal and coalescing elements). The air is then passed to the sieve columns.

The air is feed at pressure into one of the columns and the outlet air from this column is split into two paths. Part of the air is directed to the outlet of the purifier for use by the consuming instrument and the other part is ' blown' back down the other unused column (open to atmosphere) to purge out the adsorbed impurities.

In this way each column repetitively adsorbs impurities under pressure and then releases them to atmosphere. The outlet air from the TOC Gas Generator passes through an internal final filtration stage where particle filtration takes place to ensure that there is no ' carry over' of any dust from the sieve material to the consuming instrument.

This TOC Gas Generator will supply a constant stream of dry total organic free air at a fraction of the cost of cylinder supply.
